thank you dear lord

Massive Attack's magnificent album "Mezzanine" was released in 1998, when i was 16 years old. that means i have been listening to Massive Attack for 11 years, which also happens to be a pretty good chunk of my adult, music-consuming life. i'd never been to see them though, although everyone says they are a sweet live act. Kylie and Massive Attack share a lot of technical crew (as well as some former band members), so when our drum tech asked me a couple of days ago if i wanted to get on the list for their show at Brixton Academy, i was all "shit yeah i do." so what happened was that i got to see Massive Attack on friday, and the experience was as magical as i'd hoped; the show literally contained some of the best, most masterful musical moments i've had the privilege to witness, ever. way to go dudes. not to mention that it's incredibly encouraging to see an act as uncompromising as this experience commercial success on this scale- three sold out nights at Brixton Academy is no joke.

in other news, i saw daylight and interacted with the world today for the first time this week (sunday is a day off from rehearsal). last night's private show tomfoolery went by without major hitches, although the whole things was somewhat surreal; Kylie played at birthday party in honour of Lord Ashcroft's wife, so the audience consisted of roughly five hundred Conservative politicians, who by that point had all had too much to eat and drink. still, props to the old fogeys for getting off their butts and dancing, even though it was way past their usual bedtime. congratulations, Tory Party members; as an audience, you certainly exceeded my expectations.

oh, and finally, Adrian and i pimped ourselves out for some free pedals. you can see the glorious results of our collaborative efforts with T-Rex on their newspage.
